Suvo is a distinguished retail banking professional with over 31 years of multi-functional experience with five leading financial institutions and in multiple geographies across Middle East and Africa. Currently, he is the Senior Executive Vice President and Group Head of the Retail Banking and Wealth Management businesses of Emirates NBD, the largest bank by customer base and brand value in the UAE and the most awarded bank in the Middle East. 

Suvo has worked with three multi-national banks – Standard Chartered, ANZ Grindlays and Citibank NA, and two regional banks – National Bank of Dubai and National Bank of Abu Dhabi. In 2015, Suvo was recognized by the Asian Banker as the Retail Banker of the Year. In 2017, he was named the Digital Leader of the Middle East by the MIT Sloan Review and Khaleej Times. More recently, in 2018, he was honoured with the international Retail Banker of the Year award from Retail Banker International and the Digital Leader of the Year award from Seamless. 

Suvo’s current role at Emirates NBD is to oversee two major businesses of the Bank, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, which together contribute to over 50% of the banking group’s revenues and profits, have a customer base of over 1.7 million across 5 countries and a balance sheet of over USD 60B. He is also the executive chairman of two of the Bank’s key subsidiaries: ENBD Asset Management, the largest asset management company in the UAE and ENBD Securities, a leading brokerage house. Additionally, he serves on the boards of Emirates NBD Egypt and Tanfeeth, the bank’s operations and processing subsidiary.

Suvo is well regarded as a thought leader in the banking industry and is a spokesperson for Emirates NBD. With an established reputation as an innovator, Suvo publishes a monthly column on changing paradigms in the banking industry. He also serves on the advisory boards of two leading educational institutions, Abu Dhabi University and GEMS Modern Academy.
