India is at the cusp of a medical innovation revolution. Growing population, rising income levels coupled with lifestyle changes and changing disease profiles call for high quality medtech to bridge the gap between demand and supply of healthcare, making India an extremely attractive market. What was so far perceived to be a import driven market is now being rapidly changed by a host of startups doing some cutting edge work in various areas. The industry is expected to grow by 5x to USD 50 Billion by 2025.
At this stage, it's important for us to understand what is driving this medtech innovation engine? Whilst the geeks invariable argue in favor of large talent pool and the multiplying effects of technological possibilities, the docs wonder if technological possibilities should super seed medical needs?
